What is Dtype?
Dtype is a brand inspired by uber-talented and super young skateboarder, David Mackay. We, the creators of Dtype, wanted to create an action sports brand that will offer athletes and artists a new source of inspiration. We feel that the cohesion between art and the action sports industry has always been strong, and we hope to meaningfully build upon that cohesion.
- As a brand, Dtype will produce quality gear that will help take athletes to the edge of their human limits.
- As a vehicle for expression, Dtype will be a portal for artistic deviance and philisophic reflection.
- As a team, Dtype will ride hard and we will continue to push our personal limits.
For the time being, Dtype is small. We'll be slangin' the basic products to get our name out there -- Tshirts, wheels, decks, etc... We will do our best to keep our products fresh. In many ways, we still don't know who we are as a brand. We want to keep it organic and let shit evolve over time. Too much planing stifles creativity, so we're just going to have as much fun as possible. If all goes well, Dtype will evolve into a multi-discipline action sports company that will inspire the masses to embrace their inner freedom vehicle. It's not possible for every shredder to be an awesome skateboarder, snowboarder or mountain biker, etc. Simply put, most action sports athletes are products of their environments. Urban kids are more likely to become great skaters, and mountain kids are more likely to become great snowboarders. People who want to believe that a person has to be loyal to a single discipline to be "core" can find another brand to rock with.
Dtype is dark, as is the reality of existence. All life is born out of darkness. All life returns to darkness.
